How do you pick a person to invest in? June 29, 2021 Podcast Show Notes

Jesus selected 12 people to be part of his small group of disciples. Here are ten things to know about the selection process:

  1. Jesus did not call everyone to be part of His group - only 12 out of many more.

  2. Is God working in their life right now? Often it’s when people are in the middle of a crisis or transition or something “big” that their “need” for the Lord becomes obvious to them.

  3. Chose someone who is a learner and really wants to grow in their faith.

  4. It’s ok if someone says “no” to the invitation to be in a discipling relationship - sometimes it is just not the right thing for them at that time.

  5. People eliminate themselves - look at the “rich, young ruler” who walked away from Jesus’ invitation to follow Him.

  6. Look for people who exhibit the “F.A.T.” qualities in their life - faithful, available, and teachable.

  7. Do they really want their character to be more life Jesus?

  8. Are they willing to really hear the truth?

  9. Are they seeking to hear God’s voice and obey Him in faith?

  10. Are they ready to be engaged in the “great commission” to go make disciples?
